Introducing TGR :Tanks Gone Rogue Devlog #1


Hey everyone!

I’m excited to finally share what I’ve been working on: Tanks Gone Rogue!, a stylized, fast-paced tank roguelike set in a dystopian world where rogue machines, fueled by alien tech have turned against humanity. You play as a lone battle tank, rolling through a wasteland and trying to survive mechanical mayhem.


Core Gameplay

  • Single-player roguelike action
  • Wasteland level with mystery locations
  • Fight waves of enemy forklifts, tanks, and exploding trucks
  • Stylized visuals with minimal UI 

What’s included

I've been deep in the code trenches lately, and here’s what got done:

  • Turret & Machine Gun Dual System – Controlled firing logic with cooldowns and an automated machine gun attached to the head
  • Smart Spawn System – Enemies now drop from the sky and land dynamically – got parachutes as well!
  • Boost Mechanic – A short burst of engine power to dash out of danger
  • Battle Effects – New explosions, sparks, smoke, and powerup visuals from my EffectBlocks VFX pack

Next Up

  • Powerup menu between waves
  • Boss fights with giant rogue bots
  • A gritty soundtrack to match the tone

This is a solo project (with occasional help from friends), and posting here helps me stay motivated and transparent. Feedback and ideas are all welcome!
